Covid: Information

Not feeling well?

If you have any symptoms, test for Covid immediately, even if you are vaccinated. If your test is negative but you continue to have symptoms, test again 24-48 hours later. Low amounts of virus early in infection can sometimes be missed by a test, and the test can be positive a few days later.

When a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, school site attendance or a school site administrator should be notified.

Quick Tips & Reminders

  • Mask up if you’re not feeling well: If you have a cough, sore throat, or cold, consider staying home. If you choose to come to school with symptoms of illness, please wear a mask. There are a lot of viruses going around, and you don’t want to spread them, even if you don’t have Covid. Good fit and filtration are the best way to get the most out of your mask. The best masks for Covid protection include N95, KN95 and KF94. No matter what kind of mask you wear, check the fit by avoiding gaps above the nose or on the sides. Reminder: students must abide by the PUSD illness guidelines.
  • Monitor for symptoms of Covid: Symptoms are very subtle for many people. If you have any of these symptoms, wear a mask and take a Covid test: Sore or scratchy throat, fever, runny nose, congestion, cough, difficulty breathing, severe headache, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained muscle aches or body aches, and/or unexplained fatigue.
  • Stay up-to-date on Covid vaccinations and boosters:  Vaccines are the best defense against severe illness. The California Department of Public Health and the CDC strongly recommend that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated against COVID-19 and remain up-to-date with boosters to protect yourself and reduce transmission of the virus.
